Mexican GraffitiIn February, 2006, I found myself lost in a neighborhood in Mexico where graffiti covered the walls. Over a 20-block radius, bands of night-time roving graffiti artists illegally covered the territory with murals that depict social upheaval, impoverished angst, and community spirit. I feel the macro shots are my most original photographic work, capturing vivid paint on various textures. The wider shots are, of course, reproductions of the painters' imagery. Some show the art in the context of the barrio. I hereby give credit to the artists, many whose names I do not know. One day, I would like to apply for a grant to return to this neighborhood and uncover the identities of the street artists whose contributions enliven this neighborhood and speak to the heart.
